Dollar Store Crafting Treasures

My original intent when I started this blog was to provide instructions and photos for simple craft projects that I was working on.  The fact is, I've been so busy experimenting with such a wide variety of projects that I haven't had much time to take pictures at various stages, let alone write down the directions.  (I do have several photos of finished items).

So until I get motivated to do my own, I'm going to share some projects from some of my favorite bloggers; some I've tried and others that I still have gotten to yet.

Being a "thrifty"' crafter, I love dollar store projects.  Another place to get cheap and interesting items is the clearance area of any of your local stores (e.g.  Michaels, TJ Maxx, K-Mart, Dollar General, etc.).  I am always looking for unusual ways to use usual items.

So, today's item is this large mirror piece, made from 9 smaller mirrors purchased at a dollar store, this one that I can't wait to try.

Here's the link to the tutorial and a list of the material needed:

Project Materials:
  • 9 framed mirrors
  • Duct tape
  • Piece of black foam core board
  • Ribbon or picture-hanging wire
  • Craft glue
  • Hot glue & glue gun
So if any of you get inspired to make this before I do, please post your pictures and tell us all about it.

Fall is here...but I LOVE Summer!

It's no secret to anyone who knows me...I love summer!  I refuse to do anything "fall like" until the calendar officially says fall.  I won't buy mums, decorate with pumpkins, leaves, etc. and certainly nothing Halloween related.

Sarah & Jim

Our daughter, Sarah, got married on Friday night (the last day of Summer) and it was a beautiful and fun celebration of the beginning of their life together.  I truly believe that her and Jim were meant to be together.  But now that all the summer events are over, and fall is really here, I may as well embrace it.

With the cooler temperatures and rainy weather, it feels like fall.  I am ready to start fall crafting.  Today would've a perfect day for it; but I had to travel for work.  So that gives me about 12 hours of ride time over the next few days to let my creative mind run wild.  Fortunately, I remembered to pack my creative journal because you never know when the creative ideas will may be in downtown Cleveland or just north of Detroit on I-75.  So Happy Fall Y'all!

(Ken - this one is for you!)
